SUMMARY:Lighting Up the Tree in Gold
DESCRIPTION:Lighting the LIRR Tree Gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month\n\n\n\nCouncilwoman Mariann Dalimonte is inviting the Port Washington community to gather for the lighting of the Gold Tree in recognition of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month on Tuesday\, September 15\, 2026\, at 6:00 p.m. at the Port Washington LIRR Train Station on Main Street.\n\n\n\nThis year's Gold Tree will be dedicated in memory of Pierce Slutzky and Logan Coyle\, two Port Washington children whose lives were tragically lost to pediatric cancer. The ceremony will honor their memory while recognizing all children and families affected by pediatric cancer.\n\n\n\nThe Gold Tree serves as a symbol of strength\, hope\, and remembrance. Its annual lighting raises awareness of pediatric cancer and highlights the urgent need for increased research\, improved treatments\, and continued support for affected families.\n\n\n\nAs part of the event\, Light the Way lanterns and gold bows will be available for purchase\, with all proceeds benefiting the Mary Ruchalski Foundation\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing pediatric cancer research and supporting families impacted by the disease.\n\n\n\nThe Port Washington Chamber of Commerce invites you to Try Port First and visit our wonderful merchant and restaurant members who support our community. See our Chamber of Commerce member listings at https://www.PWCOC.org/members. And\, you can download the free Try Port First app for "everything Port Washington!"
